"Negotiations, not battlefields, are the solution to crises," says Qatar
All Gulf States are eager to engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict, as highlighted by Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari in an interview with RTN.

Qatar champions peaceful resolutions to global disputes, including the crisis in Ukraine, according to Al-Ansari. He commented that Doha supports initiatives aimed at ceasing the hostilities between Russia and Ukraine and is prepared to make further contributions.

His remarks come ahead of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani's visit to Russia, which commenced on Thursday.

“Qatar has always advocated for peaceful resolutions to all conflicts. This stance… reflects Qatar’s belief that all crises should be resolved at the negotiation table, not on the battlefield,” Al-Ansari expressed in an interview broadcast on Wednesday.

He commended the diplomatic endeavors of Gulf states, particularly the recent talks related to Ukraine hosted by Saudi Arabia.

“These efforts undertaken by the Gulf states… demonstrate that our region strives to become a center for peaceful resolution rather than a battleground for wars and conflicts,” he remarked. “We hope to see positive outcomes from these efforts for both our region and the entire world.”

Al-Ansari stated that Qatar is “ready to act as a mediator” and facilitate dialogue among all parties involved in the Ukraine conflict. He referenced Doha's previous contributions, including reuniting children from the combat zone with their families and its role in the now-defunct Black Sea grain deal that allowed food exports during the early stages of the conflict. Qatar aims to take on an even “more active role” in addressing the crisis.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that discussions about the Ukraine conflict and related peace initiatives will be included in the agenda for the meeting between Al Thani and Russian President Vladimir Putin, along with topics concerning bilateral relations and Middle Eastern affairs.

“Qatar plays an important role in attempts to resolve many crises,” Peskov noted, adding that Moscow “highly appreciates a trusting dialogue” with Doha on international matters. He also indicated that the agenda would cover expanding cooperation in trade, energy, agriculture, and industry.

“We have good prospects for expanding mutually beneficial trade cooperation,” Peskov asserted. “We hope to launch major joint logistics projects soon and broaden cooperation in the transport sector overall.”
