In a post on X, Musk called for users with information on these activities to help gather further evidence. He stated, “An investigation has found 5 ActBlue-funded groups responsible for Tesla ‘protests’: Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise & Resist, Indivisible Project and Democratic Socialists of America.” He also highlighted that “ActBlue funders include George Soros, Reid Hoffman, Herbert Sandler, Patricia Bauman, and Leah Hunt-Hendrix.”
Musk further claimed that the Democratic fundraising platform is currently “under investigation for allowing foreign and illegal donations in criminal violation of campaign finance regulations.” He noted that in the past week, seven senior officials, including an associate general counsel, have resigned from their positions.
Recent weeks have seen an uptick in protests targeting Tesla, with demonstrations occurring at over 50 locations across the United States. Protesters have called for Musk to “go,” employing slogans such as “We need clean air, not another billionaire.” Additionally, there have been multiple incidents of arson targeting Tesla dealerships.
In a recent incident in Seattle, several Cybertrucks were set ablaze at a local dealership. Prior to that, a Tesla dealership in Loveland, Colorado, was damaged by an unknown individual who threw rocks and set fire to multiple vehicles.
The Loveland dealership had previously experienced arson, with a suspect reportedly spray-painting “Nazi cars” and using Molotov cocktails during the attack. The suspect, identified as Lucy Grace Nelson, had previously identified as Justin Thomas Nelson and was booked on a $100,000 cash bond, only to be released the following day. Local law enforcement expressed concern about the implications of such releases, emphasizing the challenges they pose in preventing similar incidents in the future. Loveland police chief Tim Doran noted, “It’s incredibly challenging to keep our citizens safe from copycat behavior when there are no repercussions to lawlessness.”
