LA inferno reportedly engulfs Hunter Biden's art
Nearly 200 artworks by Hunter Biden, the son of outgoing US President Joe Biden, were reportedly destroyed in the wildfires that have devastated Southern California, as reported by the New York Post on Wednesday, citing an unnamed source connected to the Biden family.

The paintings, valued at “millions of dollars,” were being stored near the home of Biden’s attorney, Kevin Morris, in the Pacific Palisades area, which experienced some of the worst damage in the disaster.

Georges Berges, who previously represented Biden's work and organized solo exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York, informed the NYP that Morris had purchased $875,000 worth of Biden's artworks through his Soho-based gallery. Berges mentioned that many of the paintings feature flowers on Japanese paper.

The tabloid highlighted that the "controversial" artworks have been priced up to $500,000 each but noted that Berges indicated the average price is closer to $85,000.

The wildfires ignited in the region last week have wreaked havoc, resulting in at least 25 fatalities. The fires have scorched more than 40,000 acres and destroyed over 12,000 buildings, leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins. Preliminary assessments suggest the material losses from the disastrous fires could reach as high as $275 billion.

Last week, the Daily Mail reported that Hunter Biden’s Malibu residence had been completely annihilated by the raging fires. The President mentioned that his son had received information indicating that the house was “probably burned to the ground,” although it appeared to still be standing.

The president's son had been renting the property for $15,800 per month, using the tranquil setting to create his paintings, according to the Mail. The report also noted the destruction of a neighboring house, which housed Hunter’s Secret Service detail, at a monthly cost of $16,000 to taxpayers.

Berges arranged the first private viewing of Biden's artwork in Los Angeles in the fall of 2021, followed by a subsequent exhibition in New York. Among the collectors of Biden’s artwork was Elizabeth Hirsh Naftali, a Los Angeles real estate investor who contributed over $200,000 to Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign, raising concerns about potential conflicts of interest and transparency.

The interest in Biden's artworks, along with the gallerists willing to exhibit and sell them, has led to allegations of nepotism and flagged significant ethical issues regarding the motivations of art collectors and their connections to Hunter Biden. The lack of formal fine-arts training has also drawn criticism concerning his status as an artist.
