During a campaign event on Saturday in his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, where he was supporting Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate for the upcoming November 5 election, Biden took aim at Trump's tax promises.
“There’s one more thing Trump and his Republican friends want to do. They want to have a giant tax cut for the wealthy,” Biden shared with members of the local carpenters union. He suggested that some may view this support as coming from “macho guys,” seemingly referring to Trump’s supporters.
“I tell you what, man, when I was in Scranton, we used to have a little trouble going down the plot once in a while. These are the kind of guys you’d like to smack in the ass,” he remarked, clenching his fists and gritting his teeth. “By the way, I’m serious,” he emphasized.
Trump has made headlines throughout his presidential campaign with his proposals for tax cuts, including a reduction in the corporate tax rate by 20%, the elimination of taxes on overtime pay and service workers' tips, and making Social Security benefits for seniors tax-free.
Earlier in the week, Biden stirred controversy by labeling Republican supporters as "garbage" and accused Trump of fracturing the nation “based on the race.” The White House later modified the transcript, noting a “difference in interpretation” while Biden explained that his comment was a reaction to the “hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico” expressed by Trump’s supporters at a rally.
Both parties have consistently used strong language against each other, with Trump disparaging Harris as a “low IQ individual” and criticizing her policies as “plans of a simpleton.” Meanwhile, Harris has accused the former president of perpetual dishonesty, dubbing him a “petty tyrant.”
