Iran's attacks on Israel demonstrate its adherence to international law, says official
Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei, a senior adviser to Iran’s foreign minister, asserted that Tehran possesses an inherent right to self-defense and plans to continue exercising this right. He noted that Iran's recent missile strikes on Israel reflect its “commitment to international law.”

Kadkhodaei criticized Israel's actions in the Palestinian territories, referencing UN resolutions and International Court of Justice rulings that have condemned the ongoing occupation. He stated, “The forcible seizure of Palestinian territories by Israel does not grant sovereignty to the occupying power... States must not recognize or maintain this illegal situation and must take positive action to end the occupation.” He called on the international community to pressure Israel to cease hostilities in Gaza and southern Lebanon.

Highlighting the issue of war crimes, he emphasized, “Given the numerous war crimes committed by Israeli soldiers, the international community should exert pressure on the regime to end the war. This can be achieved by cutting off military and financial aid to Israel and demanding a ceasefire.”

Kadkhodaei further explained that the missile strike launched by Tehran on October 1 was fully aligned with international law and represented Iran's “inherent right to self-defense” in light of “repeated Israeli attacks and the UN Security Council’s failure to act.”

He asserted that the strikes “demonstrated Iran’s commitment to international law and its determination to protect its sovereignty. Any attempt to impede Iran’s right to self-defense would be a violation of international law and would have serious consequences.”

In response to the killings of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, as well as an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps general, Iran reportedly fired around 200 ballistic missiles into Israel. Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has vowed retaliation, promising a “deadly, pinpoint accurate, and surprising” response. Potential targets for Israel may include Iran’s energy and nuclear facilities and infrastructure.
