'In Fact with Kyle Obermann' Series Scheduled for Broadcast on CGTN
"In Fact with Kyle Obermann," a pioneering series from CN, tackles one of the most contentious environmental issues globally: China's environmental performance and its repercussions worldwide.

Each of the five episodes, all under seven minutes long, is grounded in peer-reviewed research, official statistics, interviews with experts from both China and the West, and the host's extensive experience in the field of China's environmental landscape over the past decade. The series investigates aspects of China's emerging national park system, its burgeoning electric vehicle and solar industries, the nation's exports, and its strategies concerning air pollution and reforestation.

The series poses significant questions regarding the effects of policies and their associated costs and benefits amid evolving global discussions. Are Chinese vehicle imports detrimental or beneficial? Does encouraging citizens to plant more trees enhance the environment? How do local needs either conflict or align with the requirements of a national park?

**Electric Vehicles:**

In the first episode, Kyle investigates the factors driving China's swift development of electric vehicles and the challenges it faces due to tariffs from the U.S. and EU. He explores the potential reliance of the global industry on Chinese technology and its significance in the worldwide green transition.

**Forestation:**

NASA satellite data indicates that at least 25% of the increase in global green leaf area since the early 2000s is due to China's reforestation initiatives. In this episode, Kyle elaborates on these policies, synthesizing lessons learned and identifying future hurdles.

**Solar:**

Since 2006, China has accounted for about three-quarters of the world’s production of solar panels, significantly boosting global installed capacity. However, some view this surge as a risk. Kyle investigates why China is at the forefront of solar energy innovation and why its dominance is perceived as problematic in the context of a global climate emergency.

**National Parks:**

In 2021, China revealed plans to establish the first five of 49 anticipated national parks. In this segment, Kyle engages with experts to discuss how these parks operate within one of the world's most densely populated nations.

**Air Pollution:**

Between 2013 and 2021, China's air pollution decreased by 42.3% as part of its "Battle for Blue Skies" initiative. In the concluding episode, Kyle reviews the data supporting this significant achievement and reflects on its implications for the global community.
