Hollywood Star Calls Americans ‘Ignorant and arrogant’ for Electing Trump
At a festival in Italy, actress Sharon Stone criticized the “bad men” who supported Donald Trump in the recent US presidential election, condemning her fellow Americans for their arrogance and ignorance.

Despite facing a significant funding disadvantage, Republican Trump secured the popular vote, the Electoral College, and all seven swing states during the election held on November 5, defeating Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris.

During a panel at the Torino Film Festival on Monday, Stone noted, “Italy has seen fascism. Italy has seen these things. You guys, you understand what happens. You have seen this before. My country is in its adolescence. Adolescence is very arrogant. Adolescence thinks it knows everything. Adolescence is naive and ignorant and arrogant, and we are in our ignorant, arrogant adolescence.”

She continued by highlighting the lack of global awareness among many Americans, stating, “Americans who don’t travel, [most of them] don’t have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naivete.” According to her, “this is a time when we can no longer look away when bad men are bad.”

Stone, who is 66 years old, is renowned for her performances in films such as ‘Total Recall,’ ‘Basic Instinct,’ and ‘Casino.’ She was in Turin to receive a lifetime achievement award.

The Democratic Party and its supporters have frequently used derogatory language regarding Trump’s followers. Notably, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton labeled them a “basket of deplorables,” while outgoing President Joe Biden referred to Trump supporters as “garbage.”

In response to such characterizations, Trump has pushed back against what he calls divisive rhetoric, arguing that “250 million Americans are not garbage,” a statement he made during one of his final campaign rallies last month.

Interestingly, just a day after Stone's critique of Trump supporters as ignorant, senior officials from the Harris campaign acknowledged that their internal polls had never indicated a winning outcome for them.
