China advances mobile IoT to foster 'Intelligent Connectivity'
On Wednesday, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced a plan aimed at advancing the mobile Internet of Things (IoT) for "Intelligent Connectivity," with a focus on enhancing the sector's supply, innovation capabilities, and industrial value.

The initiative will promote the use of mobile IoT in various sectors, including intelligent connected vehicles, healthcare, and smart homes.

Regarding intelligent connected vehicles, the plan outlines efforts to enhance the application of mobile IoT in scenarios such as driving monitoring and autonomous driving, facilitating functions like information exchange and sharing, complex environment perception, and intelligent decision-making.

By 2027, China aims to further refine its mobile IoT ecosystem, projecting that the number of mobile IoT terminal connections will surpass 3.6 billion.

The plan anticipates the establishment of over five mobile IoT industrial clusters and the creation of more than 10 mobile IoT industry demonstration bases by 2027.

Key tasks highlighted in the plan include strengthening the foundational IoT network, enhancing industrial innovation capacity, promoting the integrated application of smart technologies, and cultivating a conducive development environment.

The ministry also stated that it will accelerate the integration of mobile IoT with key industries to facilitate their digital transformation and ongoing industrialization.

As of the end of July this year, the number of mobile IoT connections in China was close to 2.55 billion, representing 59 percent of the country’s total mobile terminal connections, according to official statistics.
