Chengdu AG Super Play Secures 2024 King Pro League Title
Chengdu AG Super Play has emerged as the champion of the 2024 King Pro League.
This marked the first time Beijing hosted a major esports event since the 2020 Honor of Kings World Champion Cup. The tournament featured a three-round format—single eliminations, breakout matches, and knockout rounds—held in Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Changsha prior to the finals in Beijing.
Chengdu AG Super Play rebounded after an initial defeat to Beijing WB in the qualifiers, steadily progressing through the knockout stages by triumphing over Wuhan eStarPro and Suzhou KSG to earn their place in the Grand Finals. On the other side, Chongqing Wolves executed remarkable comebacks, including a "one versus two" victory against Jinan RW Xia and Wuhan eStarPro.
The championship match consisted of six fierce battles, with Chengdu AG Super Play taking the first two victories. However, the Chongqing Wolves responded strongly in the third and fourth games, with exceptional contributions from key player Cai Youqi, who helped equalize the score. In the fifth game, AG tightened its control over the Wolves' key player, Li Daheng, using strategic expertise to reach match point. Ultimately, AG secured a 4-2 series victory, claiming their fourth championship title, while Xie Chengjun from the team was recognized as the Finals Most Valuable Player.
This year’s Grand Finals featured the largest venue, audience capacity, and stage design in KPL history. The stage at Beijing Workers' Stadium spanned 1,500 square meters and included a massive 70-meter-wide and 30-meter-high screen alongside a 45-meter-long floor screen, providing an immersive experience for the audience present.
