Anticipations for the 15th Airshow China
The upcoming six-day event will feature a display of the latest Chinese aircraft, highlighting new fighter jet models like the J-35A, J-15T, and J-15D.
Over the course of six days, the event will feature a range of cutting-edge Chinese aircraft, including new models of fighter jets such as the J-35A, J-15T, and J-15D.
Among the most anticipated displays is the stealth fighter jet J-35A, which recently completed its inaugural adaptive training flight in Zhuhai on November 8.
Military expert Li Li informed China Media Group that the J-35A stands as China's second stealth fighter jet, alongside the J-20. This development positions China as the second nation, after the United States, to operate two variants of stealth fighters. Li highlighted that the J-35 is expected to evolve into a series and may eventually be adapted for use as a carrier-based aircraft.
The J-35A recently showcased its capabilities over Jinwan Airport in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, on November 8, 2024.
In a notable first, the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy will actively participate in Airshow China 2024, featuring aerial demonstrations that will include the J-15D, a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft, and the J-15T, a newer model of carrier-based fighter jet.
The J-15D engaged in adaptive training on November 9 and is primed for its full debut at the exhibition. This two-seat electronic warfare aircraft combines electronic jamming functions with strike capabilities, potentially enhancing air superiority for aircraft carrier battle groups.
On November 6, the J-15T arrived in Zhuhai and is prepared for its public debut at the show. As an upgraded version of the initial J-15, the J-15T is outfitted with advanced radar and weaponry and is compatible with catapult launch systems, according to Chinese military analyst Zhang Xuefeng, as reported by the Global Times.
Since its inception in 1996, Airshow China has been held 14 times and now ranks among the top five airshows globally.
