A New Era in Travel: Celebrating One Year of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail
On October 2, 2024, the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail line marked its first anniversary. Over the past year, this key connection between Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung, its fourth-largest city, has become an integral part of the nation's transportation infrastructure.

China Railway International Group reports that daily train services have surged from 14 to a peak of 52, successfully transporting nearly 5 million passengers in the last year.

The development and operation of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Rail benefited from strong collaboration between China and Indonesia. Both nations worked hand-in-hand on technology transfer, operational management, and training initiatives. The Chinese team has successfully completed qualification training for over 160 Indonesian trainees, which includes the first cohort of high-speed train drivers and other relevant positions.

The HSR has significantly improved the travel experience for local residents, cutting down travel times between the two cities. Passengers have expressed that the HSR's speed and comfort offer greater convenience and options, allowing for quicker arrivals at their destinations and enhancing their overall quality of life. Additionally, the launch of the HSR has spurred economic growth in nearby areas by drawing in more tourists and fostering commercial activities, which benefits various sectors.

To accommodate the rising demand from passengers, there are plans to further enhance the Jakarta-Bandung HSR. Efforts will focus on improving service quality and enriching the passenger experience. As Indonesia's economy advances and living standards improve, the high-speed rail is poised to attract an even larger number of travelers.
