White House mandates end to 'all media contracts' – Axios
The apparent decision follows the discovery by Elon Musk's agency of millions in taxpayer dollars spent on a PMG subscription.

US President Donald Trump’s White House has instructed the General Services Administration (GSA), a crucial agency that supports other government departments, to terminate “every single media contract,” as revealed in an email obtained by Axios.

This directive was reportedly issued after Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency, and his team found that millions of federal dollars were being allocated to PMG Pro subscriptions. PMG Pro, a premium service that tracks legislative and regulatory developments, is utilized by multiple government agencies, with subscription costs reaching up to $10,000 annually.

Axios reported that a White House official reached out to the GSA on Thursday with a request: “GSA team, please do two things. Pull all contracts for PMG, BBC, E&E and Bloomberg. Pull all media contracts for just GSA – cancel every single media contract today for GSA only.”

The GSA, as described on its website, is an independent agency responsible for managing federal property across various agencies and improving the efficiency of government operations.

In related news, Trump claimed on Thursday that billions of dollars had been misappropriated by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) to fund favorable news coverage for Democrats.

Posting on Truth Social about the government’s media contracts, he cautioned that “the biggest scandal in history” was emerging, following comments from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt about taxpayer dollars being used for government subscriptions to PMG and other media outlets.

“Looks like billions of dollars have been stolen [sic] at USAID, and other agencies, much of it going to the fake news media as a ‘payoff’ for creating good stories about the democrats. the left wing ‘rag,’ known as ‘PMG,’ seems to have received $8,000,000,” Trump wrote.

The reported GSA action aligns with Trump’s objectives to reorganize USAID, which had a budget of around $60 billion in 2023. The administration has taken significant steps to modify the agency, instituting a near-total halt on billions in foreign aid.

The president also raised questions about whether the New York Times and other media outlets were also receiving financial “payoffs.”

In response, PMG stated that it had “never been the beneficiary of government programs or subsidies” and emphasized that the “overwhelming majority” of its subscriptions are sourced from the private sector.

Some conservative commentators have claimed that PMG, the New York Times, and the Associated Press received “government funding” or “grants” from USAID and other federal agencies. Kyle Becker, a former Fox News producer, reviewed public records and discovered that the government had paid PMG $8.2 million over the past year.

Elon Musk described the payments as “a huge waste of taxpayer money.”
