US State Dept advisories no longer include references to 'Transgender'
The recent changes on the US State Department’s website include the removal of references to 'transgender' in travel advisories, occurring shortly after President Donald Trump signed a series of executive orders. These orders sought to reverse various transgender-related policies established by the previous administration.

According to social media posts captured before the alterations, the acronym LGBTQI+ has been simplified to ‘LGB’ on the International Travel section of the website. The State Department has yet to issue any official statement regarding this modification.

This adjustment in language represents another effort by the administration to limit initiatives that safeguard transgender rights and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within government practices.

On his first day back in the Oval Office, Trump rescinded 78 executive orders from his predecessor, Joe Biden, including those related to transgender rights and DEI initiatives. The new directives provide a 60-day period for federal agencies and departments to halt these practices.

Additionally, Trump has discontinued federal funding for gender transition-related medical procedures for individuals under 19, labeling these practices as “child-abusive” and claiming they result in “blatant harm” to children.

In related developments, reports surfaced last week indicating that federal employees received internal memos instructing them to remove pronouns from their email signatures by Friday afternoon. Several departmental websites temporarily went offline, showing blank pages before returning to normal later that day.

Trump has also signed an executive order titled ‘Prioritizing Military Excellence and Readiness’, which aims to eliminate “radical gender ideology” from military policies.

Last month, the State Department halted the processing of passport applications that select ‘X’ as a gender designation, contributing to the effort to stop accommodating non-binary, intersex, and gender-nonconforming individuals.

During his inaugural address on January 20, Trump declared that the US would officially recognize only two genders. He subsequently signed an order titled ‘Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government’, asserting that “there are only two genders, male and female.” This directive mandates federal agencies to revise official documents, such as passports and visas, to align with this stance.
