US should leave Ukraine, Trump says
At a campaign rally in Savannah, Georgia, former President Donald Trump emphasized the need for the United States to develop a clear exit strategy for the Ukraine conflict, stating that neither President Joe Biden nor Vice President Kamala Harris has a plan to withdraw. He asserted, “Biden and Kamala got us into this war in Ukraine, and now they can't get us out. They can't get us out,” and reiterated his commitment to ending the war without delay if re-elected.

Trump claimed, “I think that we're stuck in that war unless I'm president. I'll get it done. I'll negotiate; I’ll get us out. We gotta get out. Biden says, ‘We will not leave until we win.’”

He also expressed concerns about the potential outcomes of the conflict, saying, “What happens if the Russians win? That’s what they do – they fight wars. As someone told me the other day, they beat Hitler; they beat Napoleon. That’s what they do. They fight. And it’s not pleasant.”

In a previous rally, Trump remarked that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is eager for Harris to win because, under Democratic leadership, Zelensky benefits from substantial financial support each time he visits the U.S., citing around $60 billion. Meanwhile, Zelensky is currently visiting the U.S. to meet with Biden, Harris, and congressional members to discuss his “victory plan,” which is said to focus on compelling Moscow to concede.

Reports indicated that Zelensky had also intended to meet Trump, although a Trump campaign official clarified that no meeting has been arranged. During Zelensky's visit, the U.S. reportedly plans to announce an additional $375 million in military aid to Ukraine, including missiles for HIMARS launchers, cluster bombs for Ukrainian jets, and various munitions sourced from U.S. military reserves.

According to the Pentagon, the U.S. has provided over $56 billion in direct military aid to Ukraine since February 2022. Earlier this year, the U.S. approved a $61 billion military assistance package for Ukraine following months of resistance from some members of Congress. There are growing apprehensions among Ukrainian officials that Trump might seek to curtail military support if he returns to power.
