Pentagon Rejects Claims of Secret Conversations with Hegseth
The Pentagon has dismissed reports claiming that US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared sensitive details regarding American operations against Houthi fighters in Yemen with his wife and brother through a private chat on the Signal messaging...

Hegseth became central to the controversy known as the ‘Signalgate’ scandal, which emerged in late March when Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, accessed a Signal group chat where senior members of former President Donald Trump’s administration discussed the Yemen strikes.
According to a report from The New York Times published on Sunday, Hegseth participated in a second private chat group on Signal that included his wife, Jennifer Rauchet Hegseth, his brother, his attorney, and about a dozen close associates. The report stated that Hegseth shared flight schedules for the F/A-18 Hornets targeting the Houthis in both chat groups on March 18.
In a post on X on Monday, Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell accused the New York Times of attempting to revive the ‘Signalgate’ narrative.
“The Trump-hating media continues to be obsessed with destroying anyone committed to President Trump’s agenda,” he stated.
Parnell contended that “the New York Times – and all other Fake News that repeat their garbage – are enthusiastically taking the grievances of disgruntled former employees as the sole sources for their article.”
He reiterated that “there was no classified information in any Signal chat, no matter how many ways they try to write the story.”
Following the New York Times report, prominent Democratic Party figures called for Hegseth’s resignation. Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer remarked on X, “We keep learning how Pete Hegseth put lives at risk. Trump is still too weak to fire him. Pete Hegseth must be fired.”
Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois added, “How many times does Pete Hegseth need to leak classified intelligence before Donald Trump and Republicans understand that he is not only a f***ing liar, he is a threat to our national security?”
The Democrats had previously made similar demands when the ‘Signalgate’ scandal first surfaced. However, Trump did not take action against Hegseth or National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, who had mistakenly included Goldberg in the Signal group chat. Trump stated, “I do not fire people because of fake news and because of witch hunts.”
