In a recent interview with The Atlantic, the president stated that he is now not only managing his country but also influencing the entire world, claiming he is “having a lot of fun” during his second term in office.
Reflecting on his tenure, Trump indicated that his current experience is much more favorable compared to his initial presidency. He noted, “The first time, I had two things to do—run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys,” adding that now he feels he is in a position to “run the country and the world.”
The interview delved into observations from those close to the administration, revealing that Trump often appears cheerful and has a “twinkle in his eye.” He confirmed this sentiment, stating he enjoys engaging in various “serious stuff.” “I’m having a lot of fun, considering what I do,” he remarked. “You know, what I do is such serious stuff.”
When questioned about his previous hints that he might run for a third time—despite the lack of a legal avenue to do so—Trump's comments raised concerns that he might attempt to reshape the US electoral system to maintain power. Many high-profile Republicans dismissed these suggestions as jokes, but anxiety among some factions has grown, especially following the appearance of ‘Trump 2028’ merchandise in his official store.
Despite the speculation, Trump clarified that he has no intention of extending his time in office beyond his second term, acknowledging the complexities involved. “It’s not something that I’m looking to do. And I think it would be a very hard thing to do,” he stated.
