The suspect involved in the stabbings in Solingen is still at large, following an attack during the Festival of Diversity on Friday evening that left three people dead and four others seriously injured, according to police reports.

Witnesses indicated that the assailant began attacking individuals at random around 9:45 PM local time in Fronhof square, where many had gathered to commemorate the city’s 650th anniversary.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who escaped the scene. “We currently have no information about his whereabouts,” stated a police spokesman.

While the police have not released a description of the suspect, reports from Bild cite witnesses describing him as “an Arab-looking man.”

The area has been secured by heavily armed officers, and multiple ambulances were dispatched to the crime scene.

“We are all in shock,” Solingen Mayor Tim Kurzbach expressed. “We had wanted to celebrate our city’s anniversary together, and how we have to mourn the dead and the injured.”
