Musk Resides in Trump's Residence – NYT
The tech mogul has allegedly taken up residence at Mar-a-Lago, gaining close access to the US president-elect.

Billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has reportedly been living in a cottage on Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida since the US presidential election in November, according to the New York Times.

Musk is said to be staying at the Banyan Cottage, which typically rents for $2,000 per night and is located just a few hundred feet from Trump’s main residence. This proximity provides Musk with convenient access to the president-elect, as reported by the NYT on Monday, citing a source familiar with the property.

This living arrangement highlights Musk's considerable influence on Trump’s transition team, enabling him to have frequent meetings with the president-elect for dinners and policy discussions, according to the newspaper.

Since publicly endorsing Trump after a failed assassination attempt in July, Musk has progressively become one of Trump’s essential advisors regarding both policy and personnel decisions. He has participated in meetings at the Mar-a-Lago Teahouse, engaged in phone calls with foreign leaders, and had his employees assist in vetting candidates for senior administration positions. Recently, Musk was seen dining with Trump and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, an industry rival.

Musk's financial support for Trump’s campaign has also been significant; he allegedly spent around $250 million in the closing months of the election cycle to back Trump. This level of support has solidified Musk’s status as one of the most critical donors and social media advocates for the president-elect.

It is believed that Musk's stint at Mar-a-Lago commenced around Election Day, during which he reportedly joined Trump to watch the election returns. He briefly left the property around Christmas but is anticipated to return soon, according to the newspaper, which noted that the specific amount Musk will pay for his stay remains undisclosed. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance has also been seen frequently at Mar-a-Lago during this transitional phase.

Last week, Trump seemingly shared a private message to Musk via his social media platform, inviting him to visit Mar-a-Lago. Screenshots circulated by several outlets showed Musk's acknowledgment of the invitation, though it did not confirm his intentions to attend.

”Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago?” Trump wrote in a soon-deleted post, adding, “We miss you and X! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!!” before signing off with his initials, “DJT.”
