Billionaire Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has reportedly been living in a cottage on Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida since the US presidential election in November, according to the New York Times.
Musk is said to be staying at the Banyan Cottage, which typically rents for $2,000 per night and is located just a few hundred feet from Trump’s main residence. This proximity provides Musk with convenient access to the president-elect, as reported by the NYT on Monday, citing a source familiar with the property.
This living arrangement highlights Musk's considerable influence on Trump’s transition team, enabling him to have frequent meetings with the president-elect for dinners and policy discussions, according to the newspaper.
Since publicly endorsing Trump after a failed assassination attempt in July, Musk has progressively become one of Trump’s essential advisors regarding both policy and personnel decisions. He has participated in meetings at the Mar-a-Lago Teahouse, engaged in phone calls with foreign leaders, and had his employees assist in vetting candidates for senior administration positions.
