Global leaders praise the CIIE for enhancing trade and development
Leaders from different nations and international organizations commend the China International Import Expo for its significant contribution to advancing multilateral trade and fostering collective development.
The 7th CIIE, taking place from Tuesday to Sunday in Shanghai, features 3,496 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, marking a significant international business event.
World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala remarked that since its accession to the WTO in 2001, China has been a staunch supporter of the organization and has significantly contributed to enhancing the capabilities of least-developed countries.
"As geopolitical tensions intensify and signs of fracturing and fragmentation emerge in global trade and investment, it is crucial for political and business leaders around the world to collaborate on preserving and reforming the multilateral trading system to reflect the changing economic landscape," she stated.
Rebeca Grynspan Mayufis, the secretary-general of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, highlighted the far-reaching impacts of China's export and import activities, noting that they have effects "even very far from its shores."
She emphasized that the expo conveys a message of openness that allows businesses globally to connect, form partnerships, and contribute to a more prosperous and interconnected global economy.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim remarked that the CIIE provides a platform for companies of all sizes worldwide to demonstrate their capabilities and attract new investments.
He further emphasized that multinational cooperation focused on free trade and sustainability should be a means to promote global progress rather than a way to stifle competition, create unfair advantages, or incite conflict.
Denisa Sakova, deputy prime minister and minister of economy of the Slovak Republic, described the CIIE as a vital platform for advancing international trade development, cooperation, and innovative global partnerships. She mentioned that her country has greatly benefited from participating in the expo, which allows them to present their best and latest products and innovations to Chinese consumers.
Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov stated that the CIIE plays a crucial role in strengthening international economic integration. For Kazakhstan, the expo provides opportunities for enhancing international cooperation with foreign partners and for distributing Kazakh goods in global markets.
Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov noted that Uzbekistan is leveraging opportunities like the CIIE to boost its standing in the rapidly expanding and appealing Chinese market, which will surely enhance collaboration and progress in trade, economy, investment, and other sectors.
Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic emphasized that the CIIE serves as a platform for businesses, individuals, and cultures to unite from around the globe, fostering not just commerce but also friendship and mutual understanding.
