The 7th China International Import Expo commenced on Tuesday morning in Shanghai, centered around the theme "New Era, Shared Future," which highlights the advancement of new quality productive forces and open sharing.

Taking place from November 5 to 10, this year's expo has expanded significantly, featuring over 3,400 exhibitors from more than 150 countries, regions, and international organizations. Noteworthy debuts include Norway, Burundi, Madagascar, and the United Nations Children's Fund.

Matts Johansen, CEO of the Norwegian company Aker BioMarine, remarked to CN that the Chinese market is his company's fastest-growing market, which motivated his participation in the CIIE to establish new connections and prepare for future initiatives in China.

A key emphasis of this year's CIIE is on fostering new quality productive forces, aligning with the country's fresh development philosophy that prioritizes high-tech, high efficiency, and high-quality growth.

More than 400 new products, technologies, and services are making their inaugural appearances, including advancements in high-end equipment, biotechnology, and new energy solutions.

A dedicated section for new materials showcases innovations like an air-purifying paint and another type that offers both insulation and cooling for urban renovations.

Jakob Stausholm, CEO of Rio Tinto, noted that these new offerings reflect the optimistic business sentiment toward China's market potential. He also commended China's economic advancements and its notable energy transition.

In an effort to encourage open sharing, this year's CIIE has allocated over 120 free exhibition spots to the world’s least developed countries and has broadened the African products zone. This initiative aims to establish a "green channel" for African products, easing their entry into the Chinese market.

During a gathering with selected exhibitors and buyers at the CIIE, Chinese Premier Li Qiang reaffirmed China's dedication to further opening up, irrespective of global economic shifts.

Li expressed aspirations for China to not only serve as an export destination for foreign enterprises but also to become a hub for investment and entrepreneurship, thereby enhancing connections between China and the global market.
