Boxer Involved in Olympic Gender Scandal Sues Musk
Algerian Olympic champion boxer Imane Khelif has initiated legal action in France, as reported by Variety magazine.

French prosecutors are currently investigating allegations of “acts of aggravated cyber harassment” involving Khelif and several high-profile individuals, including Elon Musk, during the recent Paris Games. According to reports, Musk, the owner of X (formerly Twitter), is named in the criminal complaint alongside J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series.

Khelif contends that she was subjected to a “misogynist, racist and sexist campaign” while competing for Olympic gold in the women's welterweight division. Despite facing disqualification from the previous year’s IBA World Championships due to a gender verification test, she was allowed to compete in Paris.

Khelif's attorney, Nabil Boudi, informed Variety that the complaint was submitted to the anti-online hatred center of the Paris Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, which has confirmed that an investigation is underway.

“J.K. Rowling and Elon Musk are named in the lawsuit, among others,” Boudi stated, mentioning that former US President Donald Trump would also be part of the inquiry. “Trump tweeted, so whether or not he is named in our lawsuit, he will inevitably be looked into as part of the prosecution,” he asserted.

Additionally, Boudi highlighted that the lawsuit includes X, which under French law means the case was filed against unknown individuals, allowing prosecution to freely investigate all parties involved. “That ensures that the ‘prosecution has all the latitude to be able to investigate against all people,” he explained.

Throughout the Paris Games, the 25-year-old Khelif was embroiled in gender-related controversy. She won her preliminary bout against Italian boxer Angela Carini in just 46 seconds, which incited online backlash from those who asserted she should not compete in the women’s category.

The Algerian government asserts that Khelif is not transgender but is a woman with hyperandrogenism, a condition manifested by elevated testosterone levels and the presence of XY chromosomes.

Following the bout against Carini, J.K. Rowling posted on X, sharing an image of the boxers and accusing Khelif of being a man who “is enjoying the distress of a woman; he’s just punched in the head.”

Musk echoed similar sentiments, sharing a post that stated “men don’t belong in women’s sports,” adding the word “Absolutely.”

Trump also commented on the boxing match, declaring, “I will keep men out of women’s sports!”

The International Olympic Committee has come to Khelif's defense, criticizing her detractors for spreading misinformation.
