Tucker Carlson Alleges US Embassy Silenced Zelensky
American journalist Tucker Carlson has claimed that the US government has hindered his efforts to set up an interview with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for over a year.

On Wednesday, Carlson shared a video on X, providing a preview of an upcoming interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The discussion with Lavrov aims to shed light on the potential proximity between Washington and Moscow to a direct confrontation, especially after outgoing US President Joe Biden’s administration allowed Ukraine to use American-made long-range weaponry against targets within Russia.

In the same video, filmed in Manezhnaya Square in Moscow, the former Fox News host indicated, “we have also tried for over a year to get an interview with Zelensky, the president of Ukraine.”

Carlson elaborated that his team has approached this from various angles, stating, “We have spoken to a lot of different people around him, had dinner with them. We have been in talks continuously.”

He further asserted, “And those efforts have been thwarted by the US government. The American Embassy in Kiev, which our tax dollars pay for, told the Zelensky government: No, you may not do the interview. You can talk to CNN. You cannot talk to us.”

In June, Carlson claimed to have secured an interview with the Ukrainian leader, but Zelensky’s press secretary, Sergey Nikiforov, quickly denied this, emphasizing that “Tucker Carlson should check his sources in the FSB more carefully.” Nikiforov remarked that Zelensky “has a completely different schedule, and Tucker Carlson is not on it.”

Carlson’s recent trip to Moscow marks his second visit since the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict in early 2022. In February, he conducted an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which garnered significant attention, amassing 14 million views on YouTube and 185 million views on X within the first three days of its release.
