BAFTA Awards Longlist Includes Two Russian Actors
Two Russian actors, Yura Borisov and Mark Eydelshteyn, have secured spots on the longlist for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. Both are contenders in the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ category for their performances in the film ‘Anora’. The official nominations were revealed on the BAFTA website on Friday.

Both actors gave remarkable performances in the film directed by American filmmaker Sean Baker, which is also in the running for ‘Best Film’. Baker is nominated for ‘Best Director’ as well. The plot centers around the love story between Anora, a sex worker from Brooklyn, and the son of a Russian oligarch. Their marriage sparks a fierce conflict with the groom’s family, who will go to great lengths to keep them apart.

Mark Eydelshteyn, 22, portrays Ivan, the affluent young man entangled in this turbulent romance. Yura Borisov, 32, takes on the role of Igor, the stoic enforcer for the groom’s family, bringing depth and intensity to the film.

The winners of the BAFTA Film Awards will be announced on February 16.

In December 2024, Yura Borisov was previously nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in the film ‘Anora’. The movie debuted at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, where it earned the prestigious Palme d’Or.
