AP: Republicans Poised to Take Control of Congress
According to media projections, the Republican party is edging closer to gaining control of both chambers of the US Congress.

The elections for the Senate and House are taking place concurrently with the presidential race, with 34 out of 100 Senate seats and all 435 House seats up for election. Currently, the Democrats hold a slim majority in the Senate, while the Republicans dominate the House.

The Associated Press reports that the GOP has flipped one Senate seat in West Virginia, where Republican Jim Justice is leading Glenn Elliott with 69.1% of the vote after 80% of the ballots have been counted.

Overall, projections indicate that Republicans are likely to hold at least 48 Senate seats, while Democrats are expected to secure 36. To achieve a majority, the GOP needs 51 seats, or 50 seats along with a Republican vice president.

In the House of Representatives, Republicans are forecasted to win at least 139 seats, with a total of 218 required for control, while Democrats are anticipated to gain at least 92. The GOP has already flipped two seats, as reported by the AP. A projection from the Washington Post suggests that Democrats would need to win at least 43 of the most competitive districts to take control of the chamber, while Republicans would need to win just 27.

In the presidential race, Trump currently leads Harris, having secured 210 out of the 270 electoral votes necessary for victory, compared to Harris's 113.
