US official allegedly instructed relief workers to bypass MAGA homes following hurricane - reports
The Daily Wire has reported that a staff member from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) allegedly instructed colleagues to overlook homes affected by Hurricane Milton in Florida if the properties displayed pro-Trump signs. In response to these claims, FEMA officials stated they are conducting a "serious" investigation and promised that those responsible would face consequences.

Described by the National Hurricane Center as "one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for west-central Florida," Hurricane Milton, a Category 3 storm, hit land in mid-October, resulting in significant tornado activity, heavy rainfall, and 32 fatalities.

In an exclusive report, the Daily Wire cited internal communications and several anonymous FEMA workers to claim that Marn’i Washington, a leader within the FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance team, had ordered her staff, first verbally and then via a group chat, to “avoid homes advertising Trump.” This instruction was reportedly given without any justification.

It's noted that Highlands County, where the directive was allegedly issued, is predominantly Republican, with around 70% of residents supporting Donald Trump in the November 5 presidential election.

According to quotes from unnamed federal employees, at least 20 homes displaying Trump signs or flags were reportedly bypassed from late October into November, which effectively meant those homeowners were denied the chance to access government assistance.

The report further indicated that some team members reportedly adhered to Washington’s instruction, with multiple addresses flagged in an internal system as “Trump sign no entry per leadership,” “per leadership no stop Trump flag,” “Trump sign,” and “Trump sign, no contact per leadership.”

One anonymous employee expressed disbelief at the notion that a federal employee would believe such behavior was permissible.

The article also mentioned that "by October 30, Washington had started walking back the instructions," asserting that no homes had been overlooked.

After the article's publication, a FEMA spokesperson contacted the Daily Wire, expressing that the agency was "horrified" by the alleged orders and had "taken extreme actions to correct this situation." The official assured that measures had been implemented to remove the employee from their position.

However, according to anonymous sources, Washington has not faced any formal punishment but has simply been reassigned to another county in Florida.
