In a recent interview with American journalist Glenn Greenwald, published on his YouTube channel Wednesday, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson asserted that the US has transformed into a fascist state under President Joe Biden's administration. He criticized Washington's decision to permit Ukraine to utilize US-supplied ATACMS missiles to target areas deep within Russia, labeling it as “the most evil thing I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.” Carlson characterized the outgoing government as a “lame duck administration” attempting to “leave the next administration with a world war.”
He stated, “In fact, it is our government that is the fascist state, not Russia.” According to Carlson, Biden's reported choice to relax restrictions for Ukraine—a “proxy state of the US”—to strike Russian soil with Western long-range missiles risks provoking a nuclear conflict.
He further noted that the “reckless” actions by Washington, which have resulted in casualties among Russian civilians, could force Russian President Vladimir Putin to respond with severe measures against Ukraine, some NATO countries, or potentially the United States.
Although Washington has not officially confirmed the authorization for Ukraine to employ Western long-range weapons against Russia, Moscow's Defense Ministry has accused Ukraine of already using ATACMS missiles in an assault on the Bryansk Region. On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin stated in a televised address that six US-made missiles were launched at Russian territory on Tuesday. He also mentioned that two days later, the Ukrainian military fired British-produced Storm Shadow missiles and American HIMARS at targets in Bryansk and Kursk Regions, indicating that the Ukraine conflict has “acquired elements of a global nature.”
Moscow has warned that this escalation is a “clear sign” of Western intentions to heighten the conflict, with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urging Western leaders to scrutinize Russia’s updated nuclear doctrine closely.
Additionally, on Tuesday, Putin officially introduced modifications to Russia's nuclear weapon usage rules, granting Moscow the right to contemplate the use of weapons of mass destruction in reaction to aggression from a non-nuclear state supported by a nuclear power. This new doctrine may also be activated if Russia or Belarus experience conventional attacks threatening their sovereignty or territorial integrity.
