Tucker Carlson claims US embassy in Kiev is obstructing Zelensky interview
Tucker Carlson, the American journalist, has asserted that the US government has hindered his efforts to secure an interview with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for over a year.

On Wednesday, Carlson shared a video on X, providing a glimpse into an upcoming interview with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The discussion with Lavrov is intended to shed light on the potential for a direct confrontation between Washington and Moscow, particularly in light of the Biden administration permitting Ukraine to use American-made long-range weapons on Russian soil.

In the same video, filmed at Manezhnaya Square in central Moscow, Carlson stated, “we have also tried for over a year to get an interview with Zelensky, the president of Ukraine.” He elaborated that his team has “attacked that from a bunch of different angles. We have spoken to a lot of different people around him, had dinner with them. We have been in talks continuously.”

“And those efforts have been thwarted by the US government. The American Embassy in Kiev, which our tax dollars pay for, told the Zelensky government: No, you may not do the interview. You can talk to CNN. You cannot talk to us,” Carlson claimed.

In June, Carlson suggested that an interview with Zelensky had been agreed upon. However, Zelensky’s press secretary, Sergey Nikiforov, quickly dismissed this assertion, advising that “Tucker Carlson should check his sources in the FSB more carefully.” Nikiforov emphasized that Zelensky “has a completely different schedule, and Tucker Carlson is not on it.”

This trip marks Carlson’s second visit to Moscow since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalated in early 2022. In February, he conducted a two-hour interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which amassed 14 million views on YouTube and 185 million views on X within just three days of its release.
