Irina Bolgar is asserting her right to partial ownership of Telegram, despite her lack of marital ties to its CEO, billionaire Pavel Durov. Bolgar, who claims to be the mother of three of Durov’s children, made headlines when she declared Durov the father in June and later substantiated these claims with paternity documentation to Forbes in August. Bolgar recounted that she first met Durov in 2012, subsequently having three children with him over the following years, and moved across countries—from St. Petersburg to Dubai, and finally to Switzerland—following personal and bureaucratic challenges.

While Durov has remained publicly silent about Bolgar’s claims, he has disclosed that he became a sperm donor years ago, leading to him fathering over 100 children.

In a recent Instagram post, Bolgar argued, "although she and Durov were never officially married, Telegram should be considered their jointly-owned property."

She also noted the precarious nature of her access to family assets, all registered under Durov's name, available to her only through agreements and powers of attorney. This arrangement, according to Bolgar, did not safeguard her rights adequately, leading to breaches of trust. "All of our verbal and written agreements were violated by him, and his promises went unfulfilled," she stated.

Bolgar highlighted the gap between assurances given and their fulfillment, particularly concerning financial arrangements to secure substantial real estate for her and their children—a promise that purportedly remained unmet.

She further cited the possibility, in some legal systems, of recognizing non-official unions as equivalent to marriage, providing grounds to claim ownership of assets accumulated together.

Apart from these ownership claims, Bolgar has previously initiated several lawsuits against Durov, including allegations of unpaid child support and severe misconduct towards their son. She also mentioned in August that a Swiss court had revoked Durov's parental rights, adding another layer to their complex legal and personal disputes.
