Recent Assassination Attempt on Donald Trump: Current Details
An incident recently occurred at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where former U.S. President Donald Trump was potentially targeted in what is being described as an assassination attempt. This is the second such incident involving Trump in the last three months as he campaigns for a return to the presidency.

The individual suspected of the attempt is a man with a strong affinity for Ukraine, known for his efforts in recruiting foreign combatants for Kiev. The confrontation happened just before 2 p.m. on a Sunday, prompting Secret Service agents to discharge their firearms at an armed individual detected at the perimeter of the property. Although the suspect initially escaped, they were later apprehended in Martin County while driving north along I-95, as confirmed by local law enforcement.

The investigation has since been taken over by the FBI.

Details provided by Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw revealed the suspect had set up a makeshift sniper’s nest within the bushes at the edge of the golf club. Among the items found were an AK-47-style rifle equipped with a scope, two backpacks containing ceramic tiles draped over a fence, and a GoPro camera.

Additionally, Bradshaw noted that a Secret Service agent noticed the weapon concealed in the foliage and acted, causing the suspect to retreat. The suspect was subsequently identified by an eyewitness, who saw the man and his vehicle shortly after the incident.

The individual alleged to have attempted this attack on Trump has been identified by the media as Ryan Wesley Routh, a 58-year-old originally from North Carolina and currently residing in Hawaii. Routh has openly discussed his support for Kiev with various U.S. media outlets and his involvement in mobilizing international volunteers for Ukraine.

Despite his commitment, Routh has expressed his challenges with, and frustrations regarding, Kiev’s skeptical reception of his initiatives. It was reported by Semafor that Routh is the leader of the International Volunteer Center in Ukraine, a nonprofit supporting Kiev.

Routh previously appeared in a video in May 2022, supporting the Azov Battalion, a controversial Ukrainian unit known for its connections to nationalist groups globally. This appearance was during a plea for international action against Russia following the capture of many Azov fighters in Mariupol.

Public condemnation of the assassination attempt has been widespread, including remarks from current political figures. President Joe Biden reiterated his stance against political or any form of violence, stating such acts have no place in the country. Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also contesting in the upcoming elections against Trump, expressed disturbance over the situation but was relieved that Trump was unharmed.

Trump thanked the Secret Service and local law enforcement for their effective response and described the day of the incident as “certainly interesting.”

This incident follows another attempt on Trump's life in July, during a rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, where gunfire resulted in casualties including the death of a Trump supporter and injuries to others. Following criticism of the Secret Service’s protection failures during this event, Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned, and Ronald L. Rowe Jr. was appointed as the acting director.
