Netanyahu Commands Demolition of Houthi Facilities
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to “destroy the infrastructure” of Yemen’s Houthi militants, he stated during a parliamentary session on Monday. This order follows a ballistic missile strike by the Houthis on Tel Aviv on Friday.

"I have instructed our forces to destroy the infrastructure of the Houthis because anyone who tries to harm us will be struck with full force. We will continue to crush the forces of evil with strength and ingenuity, even if it takes time,” Netanyahu declared in his address to lawmakers.

The missile attack, which the Houthis claimed was directed at a military target in the Jaffa area of Tel Aviv, reportedly “struck its target accurately and the defenses and interception systems failed to intercept it,” according to a statement from the Houthis.

This incident is part of an ongoing cycle of retaliatory actions between the militants and the IDF. Just a day prior, Israeli warplanes conducted strikes on ports and power infrastructure in Yemen, a response to a Houthi missile that triggered air raid sirens across Israel before being intercepted.

The IDF asserted that the sites targeted held military significance for the Houthis, while the militants contended they were civilian locations. The Houthis reported that nine individuals lost their lives due to the Israeli airstrikes.

Following the missile attack on Jaffa, American and British aircraft executed a series of bombings in Yemen. During these operations, the US Navy inadvertently downed one of its own F/A-18 fighter jets in a friendly-fire incident over the Red Sea, as announced by the Pentagon on Sunday.

Contrarily, the Houthis rejected the Pentagon’s version of events, claiming their missile was responsible for the downing of the American jet.

Formally known as the Ansar Allah movement, the Houthis ascended as the leading military group in Yemen during the latter stages of the ongoing civil war. Following Israel's declaration of war on Hamas and the initiation of bombings in Gaza last October, the Houthis began targeting Israeli-linked shipping in the Red Sea to enforce a naval blockade on the Jewish state.

In a bid to counter this blockade, the US and UK have been conducting airstrikes against the Houthis for several months.
