The new US administration will cease the promotion of diversity, equality, and inclusion programs globally, the billionaire has stated.
US President Donald Trump and his team will work to eliminate the advocacy for diversity, equality, and inclusion programs worldwide, Elon Musk announced during the World Governments Summit in Dubai on Thursday.
Musk’s remarks come as Trump has initiated a campaign to abolish DEI initiatives within the federal government since taking office last month. Shortly after his inauguration, Trump revoked around 78 orders signed by former President Joe Biden, which included ending DEI programs and rescinding protections for transgender individuals. He has also established a 60-day deadline for federal agencies to halt all DEI-related activities.
Speaking through a video link at the Dubai forum, Musk, who is currently leading the newly formed Department of Government Efficiency under Trump, noted that there has been “a lot of pushing of DEI worldwide” by the United States and emphasized that the new administration “doesn’t agree” with this stance.
“We want to terminate that stuff, and we are,” Musk stated.
He cautioned that allowing DEI principles to persist, especially if they are used to incorporate “crazy things that are untruthful” and “don’t reflect reality” in areas like artificial intelligence, could easily result in a “very dystopian outcome.”
Earlier this month, Musk claimed that DOGE had already saved the US over $1 billion by eliminating over 100 contracts associated with DEI programs. He also mentioned that his department has successfully reduced federal spending by $1 billion per day by effectively stopping “the hiring of people into unnecessary positions, the deletion of DEI, and stopping improper payments to foreign organizations.”
Additionally, Trump has ordered the dismantling of the United States Agency for International Development, which served as Washington’s main mechanism for funding political projects overseas. The president accused the agency of squandering taxpayer money on “ridiculous – and in many cases, malicious – pet projects of entrenched bureaucrats,” which included promoting DEI initiatives both domestically and internationally.
Musk has labeled USAID a “criminal organization” and asserted that it had financed bioweapons research.
