Musk Demands Immediate UK Election in Critique of Starmer
The US-based tech billionaire has criticized the British prime minister in a series of tweets.

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, has taken aim at British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and is calling for early parliamentary elections in the UK, targeting the Labor government. Musk, who has recently positioned himself as a close adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump, showed his support for the Reform UK party and advocated for the release of jailed right-wing activist Tommy Robinson through several posts on X overnight.

In his tweets, Musk questioned Starmer’s tenure as the head of the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service from 2008 to 2013, alleging that he did not adequately address the issue of “rape gangs” in Britain.

Musk also referenced a recent YouGov poll that indicated a significant drop in support for the Labor government. According to the poll released this week, only 12% of those surveyed believed Labour has been successful thus far, while more than half labeled it as ‘incompetent’ and ‘dishonest.’

“A new election should be called in Britain,” Musk stated in a post on X, highlighting the poll results. Starmer's government currently holds a 163-seat majority after a decisive victory in July, with the next parliamentary elections in the UK set for 2029. There has been no response from London to Musk's latest comments so far.

The tech entrepreneur also shared support for the notion that Nigel Farage’s right-wing Reform UK party is “the only way to save” Britain. Musk previously met with Farage at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, with some reports suggesting he pledged up to $100 million in support for the British party, although Musk has denied these claims.

In his series of posts, Musk also called for the release of Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. Robinson was sentenced to 18 months in prison in late October for producing a documentary that included libelous allegations about a Syrian refugee. He has referred to himself as a “political prisoner,” asserting that his imprisonment was due to “speaking the truth.”

This is not the first occasion Musk has harshly criticized the Labor government. In August, he suggested that a “civil war is inevitable” in the UK, which prompted a rebuttal from London, labeling his remarks as “totally unjustified.” In November, he supported a petition calling for early elections in the UK, which gathered over 2 million signatures, and described the situation in Britain under Starmer as a “tyrannical police state.”

Recently, Musk has also targeted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, predicting his defeat in upcoming snap elections in February, while expressing support for the right-wing Alternative for Germany party. In response, Berlin cautioned that Musk’s comments could potentially strain relations between Germany and the United States.
