Gunshots Reported, Trump Confirmed 'Safe'
Gunfire erupted at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while former US President and current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was present on the premises.

The incident took place on Sunday, and according to Trump's campaign, he was unharmed and promptly evacuated to safety.

"President Trump is safe, following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time," stated Trump’s campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung.

The Secret Service has confirmed their involvement in the "protective incident" and announced on X, previously known as Twitter, their cooperation with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation. They reported that the gunfire was detected shortly before 2 PM local time.

There have been various conflicting descriptions of the situation in American media, with early reports suggesting the gunfire involved unrelated individuals. However, later coverage hinted at a more direct threat to Trump, with CNN citing sources claiming that Secret Service agents had engaged a suspect. Unnamed officials familiar with the inquiry informed the broadcaster that an armed person had purportedly targeted Trump.

A suspect linked to the disturbance has been apprehended, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office on their Facebook page. For investigative purposes, a part of Interstate 95 has been closed.

"We will update this information as it becomes available," noted the sheriff's office.

This shooting follows a recent attempt on Trump’s life at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, where he narrowly escaped more serious harm. He sustained a minor injury as a bullet grazed his ear; meanwhile, the attack resulted in one death and two injuries among the attendees. The attacker, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was fatally shot by a counter-sniper.
