Elton John to perform at the White House

British singer Elton John will perform on the South Lawn of the White House Friday in an event celebrating “the healing and unifying power of music,” the White House announced on Tuesday.
The concert, dubbed “A Night When Hope and History Rhyme,” will be hosted by A+E Networks and The History Channel.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden are also slated to speak at the event, which will honor John and the “everyday history-makers in the audience, including teachers, nurses, frontline workers, mental health advocates, students, LGBTQ+ advocates,” the release said. Approximately 2,000 people are invited to attend, CNN reported.
It isn’t the first time in recent memory John has been asked to perform at the White House. Former President Donald Trump invited the singer to perform at his inauguration — an invitation he declined — and John’s music was often the soundtrack to Trump’s rallies.
