China has 3.92 million 5G base stations
According to data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Tuesday, China had approximately 3.92 million 5G base stations by the end of June.
This marks a net increase of 540,000 5G base stations since the end of last year, making up 33 percent of all mobile base stations across the nation, based on the data.
The number of 5G mobile subscribers in China grew by 105 million since the end of last year, reaching 927 million by the end of June.
This subscriber count constitutes 52.4 percent of the total mobile subscribers in China's primary telecommunication companies—China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom—as well as China Broadnet, which together had nearly 1.78 billion subscribers by the end of June, the data indicated.
China has experienced rapid development in its 5G network and commercialization efforts in recent years. The ministry noted earlier this month that the country's 5G network now spans every city and town, along with more than 90 percent of its villages.
Five years since issuing its first batch of 5G licenses for commercial use, China has integrated 5G technology across diverse sectors such as industry, power, mining, healthcare, and education, with extensive promotion and application.
Additionally, China has established 300 5G factories and initiated over 13,000 projects involving the application of "5G plus industrial internet."
The ministry mentioned last month that the commercialization of 5G has directly generated an economic output of approximately 5.6 trillion yuan (about $785 billion) in China over the past five years.
The ministry further stated that China aims to continue enhancing 5G development and expanding 5G network coverage in areas such as cultural and tourism spots, healthcare facilities, universities, transportation hubs, and subway systems.
