White House labels Tesla attacks as 'domestic terrorism'

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has denounced the recent assaults on Tesla dealerships and vehicles, labeling them as “vicious violence.” She commended U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for initiating investigations into these occurrences as acts of domestic terrorism, stating, “because that is what they are.”
Federal investigations are currently in progress following a string of violent attacks directed at the electric car manufacturer. These actions are reportedly fueled by a backlash against CEO Elon Musk, who is providing counsel to U.S. President Donald Trump. In his role as head of the newly established Department of Government Efficiency, Musk is overseeing budgetary reductions and federal workforce cuts.
In a Thursday interview with Fox News, Leavitt asserted that Trump would guarantee “the harshest penalties” for those involved. “And what I can tell you is that President Trump condemns this violence, and he is determined to restore law and order in our country,” she said.
This week, a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas was attacked with Molotov cocktails, causing damage to at least five vehicles.
Musk has asserted that there’s a scheme to harm him, directly linking it to efforts to sabotage Tesla amid his initiatives aimed at reducing U.S. federal waste and corruption.
Meanwhile, in Tigard, Oregon, gunfire erupted at a Tesla dealership on March 13, resulting in shattered windows and damage to several cars. This incident marked the second attack at that location in a single week.
On March 17, 2025, two Tesla Cybertrucks were set ablaze at a dealership in Kansas City.
FBI special agent Spencer Evans noted at a press conference that the fires targeting Tesla were initially approached as arson but are now under review for possible terrorism connections.
Musk has voiced concerns that left-wing activists are conspiring against him and Tesla. “It’s just fully terrorism at this point,” he declared on X.
Anti-Musk protests persist throughout the United States, with demonstrators expressing discontent over Tesla’s association with the administration. Some activists have resorted to extreme tactics, including threats against Tesla customers. An online campaign, reportedly connected to the “DogeQuest” group, has launched an interactive doxing map revealing the addresses of Tesla owners and urging activists to vandalize their vehicles.
Despite facing these threats, Musk argues that such backlash serves as evidence that he and Trump are successfully challenging entrenched interests.
