US Lawmaker Claims Multiple ‘Assassination Teams’ Are Targeting Trump
Florida Representative Matt Gaetz has alleged that a “mole” within the Secret Service could be aiding the hitmen targeting former US President Donald Trump. Gaetz claims, based on information from the Department of Homeland Security, that five “assassination teams” are currently plotting to kill Trump.

In an interview with Breitbart News on Thursday, Gaetz described a recent attempt on Trump’s life as “tragic” and “avoidable,” expressing concern over the inadequate security surrounding the former president. He noted that during a meeting with a DHS official, he was informed of “at least five teams in-country that are geared toward killing Trump.”

“Three of them that we know are foreign in nature. Two of them we know are domestic in nature, and that calls for a force protection that we do not have around the former president right now,” Gaetz remarked, adding that the foreign teams are connected to Ukraine, Iran, and Pakistan. He stated that these teams can move freely within the US due to “insufficient scrutiny to stop them from doing so.”

In the past two months, Trump has reportedly survived two assassination attempts. The first occurred during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania in July, where a bullet fired from about 150 meters away grazed Trump’s ear. The gunman, shooting from a rooftop that was left unprotected by the Secret Service, killed one attendee and injured two others before being shot dead by a sniper.

The second attempt took place at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, when a gunman hiding behind bushes was startled by Secret Service agents and arrested after fleeing the scene. The suspect, Ryan Wesley Routh, had previously tried to join the Ukrainian military in 2022 and had engaged in efforts to recruit former Afghan commandos for the fight in Ukraine.

Routh was confronted by US Customs and Border Protection agents upon his return to the US later that same year. According to Gaetz, the agents found Routh’s story suspicious, particularly regarding his claims about financing his recruiting efforts: “Oh, well, my wife is paying for it.” Gaetz noted that the CBP referred Routh to the DHS’ investigations unit, which “declined to even proceed with an investigation” and allowed him entry into the country.

With two assassins managing to get close to Trump, Gaetz mentioned that some of his Republican colleagues “have not ruled out a mole inside the Secret Service providing information about points of vulnerability.” While he clarified, “I’ve not seen evidence of that,” he added, “but I’ve got colleagues that are very, very smart at this who say they can’t rule that out, given some of the anomalies and the fact pattern here.”
