Ukraine Crisis Nears Crucial Juncture: "Group of Friends for Peace"
According to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday, members of the Group of Friends for Peace concerning the Ukraine crisis have emphasized that the conflict may be nearing a pivotal moment and have expressed support for the recent developments regarding peace negotiations.

Guo Jiakun reported that the Group convened in New York to review the current situation surrounding the Ukraine crisis and the potential for achieving lasting peace.
He highlighted that the meeting was productive and reiterated that a resolution to the conflict should be sought through a negotiated political solution and diplomatic efforts.
According to Guo, the members of the Group called on all parties involved to take a constructive approach in order to find a fair and lasting solution—one that addresses the concerns of those affected by the conflict and leads to a peace agreement that is acceptable to them, as he noted during a regular press briefing.
The Group intends to remain dedicated to facilitating open communication with all relevant stakeholders, ensuring that the perspectives of the Global South are recognized by a wider audience, and contributing to a peaceful resolution and an improved future for everyone, he added.
The Group of Friends for Peace, formed last year by China, Brazil, and other Global South nations, aims to uphold the United Nations Charter, foster a consensus for a political resolution to the Ukraine crisis, and enhance the prospects for peace.
Since its establishment in September, the Group has consistently promoted the pursuit of an early peaceful resolution and has worked to gather positive support for a political settlement of the crisis, Guo stated.
He assured that China will continue collaborating with the international community to amplify rational calls for peace talks, create conducive conditions for ending the conflict, enhance momentum, and actively contribute to a political resolution of the crisis.
