Trump States Immigrants Responsible for Killing Americans Should Face Death Penalty
Former US President Donald Trump has accused Vice President Kamala Harris of bringing in “an army of illegal alien gang members” as part of his broader anti-immigration stance.

In a speech to supporters in Aurora, Colorado, on Friday, Trump called for the death penalty for immigrants who kill American citizens, pledging to eliminate foreign criminal gangs if he regains the presidency. He stated that he was “hereby calling for the death penalty for any migrant who kills an American citizen or a law enforcement officer.”

Aurora has become a key point in Trump's immigration rhetoric, where he has criticized the border policies of President Joe Biden and Harris, claiming they have allowed Venezuelan criminal gangs to “occupy” the Denver suburb. Since 2022, around 40,000 Venezuelan immigrants have relocated to Aurora, now making up 10% of the city's population. Although many entered the US illegally, most received two years of legal permission to live and work in the country through a program initiated by the Biden administration in October 2022.

This influx, Trump argues, has led to an increase in violent crime and gang-related activities, though local authorities have noted that these incidents have since decreased. Nonetheless, the issue of gang activity resurfaced in August when an apartment complex owner alleged that armed members of the Tren de Aragua criminal organization had taken over his property. His assertions were supported by video evidence and testimonies from residents, although police described the gang reports in Aurora as “isolated.”

Despite this, reports indicate that over a dozen alleged Tren de Aragua members have been arrested in police actions since August.

“Kamala has imported an army of illegal alien gang members and migrant criminals from the dungeons of the third world,” Trump declared to his audience. “And she has had them resettled, beautifully, into your community to prey upon innocent American citizens, that’s what they’re doing. And no place is it more evident than right here.”

The Republican candidate, currently in a tight race with Harris according to polls, promised to launch “Operation Aurora” to “expedite the removals of these savage gangs.” He has previously pledged to lead “the largest deportation operation in American history” if re-elected next month.

Statistics from 2020 indicated around 10.2 million illegal immigrants were living in the US. Since Biden took office, and with Harris overseeing border security, at least 10.6 million more have entered the country, as reported by US Customs and Border Protection.

Data from Immigration and Customs Enforcement released last month revealed that 425,431 people with criminal convictions and 222,141 individuals awaiting criminal charges live in the US illegally. This group includes 62,231 convicted of assault, 56,533 with drug-related convictions, and 13,099 convicted of homicide.
