Trump Says Zelensky is Not Ready for Peace
The US president has accused the Ukrainian leader of “disrespecting” Washington.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky remains unprepared for peace, viewing Washington’s role in negotiations regarding the Ukraine conflict as a bargaining chip, US President Donald Trump asserted after their meeting on Friday.

Following Zelensky’s visit to the White House, Trump shared his comments via social media. The two leaders were anticipated to sign an agreement that would allow Washington to access Ukraine’s natural resources.

The meeting at the White House took an unexpected turn as Zelensky engaged in a tense exchange with Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance. Trump accused Zelensky of “disrespectful” behavior during discussions in the Oval Office.

“We had a very meaningful meeting…” Trump remarked, adding, “Much was learned that could never be understood without conversation under such fire and pressure.”

He further explained that Zelensky “is not ready for peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations.”

“It’s amazing what comes out through emotion…” the US president noted.

Reiterating his desire for peace, Trump stated that Zelensky “disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office.”

Trump, who did not see Zelensky off, concluded his remarks by saying, “He can come back when he is ready for Peace.”
