"One Direction" Member Discovered Deceased in Argentina
Liam Payne, a former member of One Direction, was discovered dead on Wednesday after falling from a hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, according to local authorities.

The 31-year-old British pop star fell from the third floor of the Casa Sur Hotel located in the vibrant Palermo district of Argentina’s capital while on vacation. Police reported that he suffered “extremely serious injuries,” and medics confirmed his death at the scene.

Authorities found Payne’s body after emergency services received an urgent call from the hotel manager shortly before the incident.

Pablo Policicchio, communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, informed the Associated Press that Payne “had jumped from the balcony of his room.” He added that police were called to the hotel after reports of an “aggressive man who could be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”

A recording of the emergency call acquired by Todo Noticias TV channel reflected the hotel manager’s concern, stating, “We have a guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol. He breaks things up. He is tearing the whole room apart.”

Alberto Crescenti, head of the State Emergency Medical System, indicated that authorities were looking into the circumstances surrounding Payne’s death and would conduct an autopsy.

Earlier, Payne had shared a Snapchat post featuring photos of himself shirtless beside a girl in a black bikini, which was reportedly made just 45 minutes before the announcement of his passing, according to The Mirror.

Payne was one of the five members of One Direction, a band that achieved global fame after its formation on the British version of The X Factor talent show in 2010. The group included Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson. They went on an “indefinite hiatus” in 2016 to allow the members to pursue solo careers.

In 2019, Payne released his debut solo album ‘LP1’ and mentioned in 2023 that he was working on a second album. His latest single, ‘Teardrops,’ was launched in March.

As investigations continue into the details surrounding his death, Payne had previously addressed his struggles with alcohol addiction. Last year, he shared a video on his YouTube channel stating that he had been sober for six months following his treatment.
