Billionaire tech entrepreneur Elon Musk stated that his X social media platform experienced a “massive cyberattack” on the same day.
In a post on his personal account, Musk mentioned, “we get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources,” suggesting that “either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved.” He also agreed with an X user who suggested that “they want to silence you and this platform.”
According to Downdetector, which tracks online service outages, there were at least two separate waves of reports regarding the issues on X, indicating significant disruption. Some users encountered error messages from Cloudflare, a provider of content delivery networks and cybersecurity services, reading, “Web server is returning an unknown error,” when attempting to access the site.
This isn't the first major outage for X; a previous significant disruption occurred in August.
Earlier in the day, Musk further accused ActBlue, a major Democratic fundraising organization supported by figures like billionaire George Soros, of orchestrating a coordinated attack against his Tesla car company.
He elaborated, “An investigation has found 5 ActBlue-funded groups responsible for Tesla ‘protests’: Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise & Resist, Indivisible Project and Democratic Socialists of America.” Musk’s assertion came in the wake of multiple protests targeting electric car dealerships at over 50 locations across the United States in recent weeks. Although many protests involved demonstrators calling for Musk to “go,” some dealers experienced property damage.
The most recent incident occurred in Seattle, where several Cybertrucks were set ablaze. A similar event took place on Saturday in Loveland, Colorado.
Last month, the Tesla dealership was also attacked by an arsonist who spray-painted “Nazi cars” on the vehicles and threw Molotov cocktails at them. Law enforcement later apprehended a transgender suspect, Lucy Grace Nelson, who was booked on a $100,000 cash bond and released the following day, raising concerns among local police.
Musk has been critical of Democrats for some time, but his endorsement of Donald Trump for president following a failed assassination attempt in July has been seen as a notable shift to the right. He has since become one of Trump’s close advisors, leading a newly formed Department of Government Efficiency aimed at tackling waste and inefficiency in government agencies.
