Hollywood actor Mel Gibson and popular podcaster Joe Rogan have asserted that former chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci should face prosecution, discussing his significant impact on the American healthcare landscape over the years. Rogan referred to Fauci as a “monster.”
Fauci served as the public face of the government’s Covid-19 response during both the Trump and Biden administrations. His implementation of stringent measures and his alleged role in suppressing the theory that the virus may have originated from US-funded gain-of-function research in China have contributed to his controversial status.
During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast featuring Gibson, both expressed astonishment over how Fauci was “still walking around” or “at least free” following his actions during the pandemic.
Their conversation included a reference to the 2021 book 'The Real Anthony Fauci' by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., which portrays Fauci as someone who has aligned himself with large pharmaceutical companies and misused his authority for decades. The book prominently discusses the HIV/AIDS crisis in the US.
“In a way, I don’t know why Fauci’s still walking around… or at least free,” Gibson noted.
Rogan swiftly rebuffed any skepticism regarding the book's validity, claiming that if it were untruthful, RFK Jr. would face significant consequences.
“That book is an accurate depiction of what Anthony Fauci did during the AIDS crisis, which probably was an AZT crisis,” Rogan asserted.
He was referencing azidothymidine, known as AZT, the first antiretroviral medication widely used in the late 1980s to combat HIV, which came with serious side effects. Kennedy contended that Fauci, as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, improperly endorsed AZT, downplayed its side effects, and disregarded alternative treatments.
“I drove up to San Francisco and I listened to it and I had road rage,” Gibson remembered, reflecting on his response to the book.
Rogan remarked, “If this is true, what the f**k is going on and how is that monster still loose?” He also noted that the outgoing Biden administration is contemplating “giving him a full pardon – it's like f**king crazy.”
The discussion brought up Fauci’s name as they critiqued the mainstream media for its “complicity” in safeguarding for-profit healthcare in the US. Gibson recalled how Rogan faced backlash from news outlets for taking ivermectin after testing positive for Covid-19 in 2021.
Ivermectin is primarily used to treat parasites in humans in Africa, but it was disparaged by the media as a “horse dewormer” in the US while urging vaccinations against Covid-19.
