Hollywood star Mel Gibson and popular American podcast host Joe Rogan have suggested that former chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci should face prosecution, as they examined his impact on the American healthcare system over the years.
Fauci became well-known as the public face of the federal government’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic during both President Donald Trump’s and President Joe Biden’s administrations. His implementation of stringent measures and his reported role in dismissing the idea that the virus might have come from US-funded gain-of-function research in China have contributed to his controversial reputation.
During a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, where Gibson was a guest, both men questioned how Fauci was “still walking around” or “at least free” following his actions during the pandemic.
Their conversation turned to the 2021 book by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. titled ‘The Real Anthony Fauci’. Kennedy, who has transitioned from healthcare campaigning to politics, characterized Fauci as an official in collusion with large pharmaceutical companies who had misused his authority for decades. The book also delves into the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the US.
“I don’t know why Fauci’s still walking around… or at least free,” Gibson remarked as he shared his thoughts on the book.
Rogan expressed confidence in the book’s accuracy, stating that if it contained lies, RFK Jr. would not have gained recognition. He declared, “That book is an accurate depiction of what Anthony Fauci did during the AIDS crisis, which probably was an AZT crisis,” referring to the first antiretroviral medication widely used in the late 1980s to combat HIV, which had significant side effects. Kennedy argued that Fauci, in his capacity as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, improperly backed AZT while downplaying its adverse effects and undermining potential alternative therapies.
“I drove up to San Francisco and I listened to it and I had road rage,” Gibson recounted, illustrating his visceral reaction to the book.
“If this is true, what the f**k is going on and how is that monster still loose?” Rogan questioned. He also mentioned that the outgoing Biden administration is contemplating the possibility of “giving him a full pardon – it's like f**king crazy.”
Fauci’s name surfaced as the two criticized mainstream media for its “complicity” in shielding for-profit healthcare in the US. Gibson reflected on how Rogan faced backlash from news organizations for his use of the drug ivermectin after testing positive for Covid-19 in 2021. While ivermectin is commonly utilized to treat parasites in humans in Africa, the media dismissed it as merely a “horse dewormer” and promoted vaccination against Covid-19.
