In the November 5 election, Trump managed to win the popular vote, the Electoral College, and all seven swing states, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, despite having only a fraction of her campaign funding.
During a panel at the Torino Film Festival in Italy on Monday, Stone remarked, “Italy has seen fascism. Italy has seen these things. You guys, you understand what happens. You have seen this before. My country is in its adolescence. Adolescence is very arrogant. Adolescence thinks it knows everything. Adolescence is naive and ignorant and arrogant, and we are in our ignorant, arrogant adolescence.”
She further elaborated, “Americans who don’t travel, [most of them] don’t have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naivete.” Stone emphasized the urgency of not ignoring the actions of "bad men," stating that “this is a time when we can no longer look away when bad men are bad.”
At 66, Stone is widely recognized for her roles in the sci-fi action film 'Total Recall,' the erotic thriller 'Basic Instinct,' and the crime drama 'Casino.' She was in Turin to receive a lifetime achievement award.
Criticism of Trump supporters has been prevalent among Democrats and their allies, with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton famously describing them as a “basket of deplorables,” while outgoing President Joe Biden referred to Trump voters as “garbage.” Trump has pushed back against such characterizations, declaring that “250 million Americans are not garbage” during one of his closing rallies last month.
Notably, just a day after Stone's comments regarding Trump voters, senior officials from the Harris campaign acknowledged that their internal polls never indicated a path to victory in the election.
