Harris ridiculed for ‘cringeworthy’ rally cry
The vice president encountered silence from her supporters when she encouraged them to chant their own names during a campaign rally in Michigan on Monday. Thousands of attendees at the event in Ann Arbor initially responded with applause and chants of “Kamala, Kamala," but when Harris asked them to shout their own names, confusion led to an abrupt silence, with some supporters lowering their signs.

Harris laughed off the moment, remarking, “because it’s about all of us, it’s about all of us,” before continuing her speech. However, her attempt to engage the audience drew criticism, with one commenter stating, “Her lack of connection with the audience is cringeworthy.”

Her rival, former President Donald Trump, has been quick to capitalize on the moment, with his supporters mocking Harris’s connection to her audience on social media. Comments like “Classic Kamala” and “She has the worst political instincts I’ve ever seen” emerged, reflecting the unflattering reception of her approach.

Throughout her campaign, Harris has faced ridicule for various reasons, including her fluctuating accents, moments of hesitation due to teleprompter issues, and delivering the same speech repeatedly at different rallies.

While Trump may showcase more experience as a public speaker, he too has had his share of awkward moments. Earlier in the month, he faced criticism from the left for halting a town hall event in Pennsylvania for nearly 40 minutes to enjoy music with the audience, as well as for inviting comedian Tony Hinchcliffe to a rally in New York, where Hinchcliffe faced backlash for comparing Puerto Rico to a “floating island of garbage.”

With just a week remaining before the election, both Trump and Harris are intensifying their campaigns in key swing states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Current polling data compiled by RealClearPolitics shows Trump holding a narrow lead over Harris in all three states and leading her by 0.1% nationwide.
