Former Greek Ambassador Reveals OSCE Provided Intelligence to Ukraine Prior to 2022
Former envoy to Kiev, Vasilios Bornovas, asserts that he observed the Ukrainian army striking positions in the DPR and LPR that were identified by observers. Read Full Article at RT.com.

In a recent interview with Greece's Hellas Journal, Bornovas claimed that during his trips to the conflict area between 2014 and 2022, he noticed the “use of classified information [by Kiev’s forces] sent by observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe regarding the positions of weapons” belonging to the separatist republics. He noted that “since these positions were immediately hit by Ukrainian fire, it was obvious that the observers’ reports first went through to the Ukrainian services."
Discussing the current dynamics of Ukraine negotiations, Bornovas remarked on the apparent sidelining of the European Union by both the US and Russia. He indicated that the EU “has reached an impasse” amid various internal crises. He commented that Brussels has long “uncritically” aligned itself with Washington's stance on the conflict and now faces challenges in shifting its policy since President Donald Trump seems to have altered his approach.
The diplomat expressed concerns about the EU’s leadership, claiming it suffers “from a deficit of visionary leaders with will and personality,” with the foreign policy mainly influenced by the Baltic states and Poland.
Regarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s approach to the conflict, Bornovas stated that the ongoing hostilities with Russia are “decimating his people and destroying the productive fabric of his country.” He suggested that the tensions had been brewing before February 2022, inferring that Zelensky might have compromised his initial pro-peace stance under the influence of former US President Joe Biden's administration.
Additionally, Bornovas speculated that the Ukrainian leader could have aimed to divert public attention from significant internal issues, such as prevalent corruption, through the lens of armed conflict.
In light of the ongoing hostilities, Moscow has repeatedly criticized the OSCE for its alleged shortcomings both in the conflict region and beyond.
Last October, Russia accused the organization of concealing irregularities in the Moldovan presidential election, which resulted in a narrow victory for pro-Western President Maia Sandu.
Furthermore, in March and February 2024, Moscow charged the OSCE with failing to condemn the deaths of Russian civilians during Ukrainian military operations in border areas, labeling this perceived inaction as hypocrisy that “goes beyond all possible boundaries.”
