Biden seeks Trump's ‘locked up’ status

Biden, who deferred to Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee earlier this year, made these remarks during a campaign event in New Hampshire on Tuesday.
“He thinks he has a version of the Supreme Court ruling on immunity that allows him, if necessary, to physically eliminate someone he believes is a threat to him,” he stated, referencing Trump.
“I know this sounds bizarre. If I had said this five years ago, you’d lock me up, but we’ve got to lock him up,” Biden remarked, receiving applause from the audience.
“Politically lock him up,” he later clarified, seemingly retracting his initial statement. “Lock him out. That’s what we have to do.”
Biden has drawn media scrutiny for various verbal missteps, frequently misspeaking at events. Earlier this year, he stepped aside from his position as the party’s candidate amid concerns regarding his mental acuity, especially following a challenging televised debate against Trump.
Just last week, Biden suggested that Trump is campaigning for president again “to stay out of jail,” alluding to the Republican’s ongoing legal issues.
This follows a Manhattan jury finding Trump guilty on 34 counts related to falsifying business documents to conceal hush money payments made to porn star Stormy Daniels. Trump also faces charges linked to the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots. He has denied any wrongdoing, claiming that his legal challenges are merely a political witch hunt orchestrated by his opponents.
After Biden endorsed Harris as the Democratic nominee, the party initially experienced a surge in voter support. However, recent data from the RCP polling aggregator shows Trump leading in all key swing states.
