Donald Trump Takes Oath as 47th US President
Donald J. Trump has officially been inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States, making him only the second leader in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice John Roberts inside the US Capitol Rotunda, accompanied by the traditional presidential fanfare, "Hail to the Chief."

Immediately prior, Vice President J.D. Vance was sworn in, with Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh presiding over the ceremony.

In his inauguration address, Trump stated that his election represents a mandate to “completely and totally reverse” the “many betrayals that have taken place” over the past four years. He proclaimed, “From this moment on, America’s decline is over."

Reflecting on the challenges ahead, he remarked, “The journey to reclaim our Republic has not been an easy one. Those who wish to stop our cause, have tried to take my freedom and indeed my life,” referencing an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, last July.

“I was saved by God to make America great again,” Trump asserted.

As anticipated, he detailed plans to sign a series of executive orders on his first day in office, heralding a “revolution of common sense.” He also indicated intentions to declare a “national emergency on our southern border" and deploy troops to “repel the disastrous invasion of our country.”

Trump emphasized that “All illegal entry will immediately be halted” and pledged to send “millions and millions of criminal aliens” “back to where they came from.”

On foreign affairs, he committed to gauging US strength by “the wars we end and, more importantly, wars we never get into,” highlighting his ambition to be viewed as “a peacemaker and a unifier.”

Additionally, he announced plans to declare a national energy emergency with a call to “drill, baby drill,” instructing all cabinet members to leverage their authority to combat record inflation and reduce costs.

Addressing gender politics, Trump stated, “There are only two genders: male and female,” declaring that this would become “official policy of the United States government."

The new president also promised to end government censorship, asserting a commitment to “bring back free speech to America” and to “forge a society that is color-blind and merit-based.”
