White House physician declares Trump 'fully fit for duty'
Dr. Sean P. Barbabella offered high praise for the president.

The note from Dr. Sean P. Barbabella is notably positive, appearing designed to alleviate any concerns regarding the age and fitness of the oldest president to assume office. It highlights Trump's involvement in meetings, public events, and “frequent victories in golf events” while omitting details about his preference for a fast food-heavy diet.
As per the memo, Trump is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 224 pounds, which places him just under the clinical threshold for obesity. His resting heart rate was recorded at 62 beats per minute, with a blood pressure of 128/74 mmHg, both of which are considered healthy.
Trump achieved a perfect score of 30 out of 30 on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a test commonly used for early dementia detection. He also showed no signs of depression or anxiety, maintaining scores in the normal range on standardized screenings.
“I don’t know what to tell you other than I got every answer right,” he remarked on Saturday, boasting about his cognitive test performance to reporters on Air Force One.
“Overall, I felt I was in very good shape,” Trump stated. “A good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.” He mentioned that doctors provided him with “a little bit” of advice regarding lifestyle changes to enhance his health, although he did not specify what those recommendations entailed.
The memo did note “minor sun damage” on his skin, a benign colon polyp discovered during a July 2024 colonoscopy, and two types of medication prescribed for cholesterol control. Additionally, it acknowledged scarring on his right ear from a gunshot wound sustained during an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, as well as a history of cataract surgery.
Trump has a history of limited disclosures regarding his health. Prior to the assassination attempt and the recent memo from Barbabella, the last public update came in November 2023, when Dr. Bruce A. Aronwald released a letter that coincided with former President Joe Biden’s 81st birthday, asserting that Trump was in “excellent” physical and mental health.
This previous letter lacked crucial medical details, including his weight and blood pressure.
